PHASES of the project:
|
| |
In the first
phase (2004 – 2006) teachers and
parents were involved in the
project. Together with them we
identified needs of the children and
their parents (the research was
conducted on a sample of 256
families of all nationalities in
Vukovar, who have children attending
primary schools. This sample
included 14,6% of all parents of
primary school children in Vukovar
); developed action plan and then
jointly worked on raising public
awareness in the community; and with
expert help (pedagogues,
psychologist, Teacher Training
Agency) developed General
Curriculum of The New School, as
the possible model which is
alternative to the existing
segregating models.
−▪−
In the second phase, once The
New School General Curriculum was
developed, representatives of
local structures and institutions
responsible for primary education
joined the project. Working group
was formed; consisting of
representatives of: City of Vukovar,
County of Vukovarsko-Srijemska,
Education and Teacher Training
Agency, Coordination of Minority
councils, Parents’ Club, teachers,
expert associates and NDC Osijek
coordinators).
Working group adopted a list of
recommendations dealing with
steps in realisation of further
activities in the framework of The
New School Project (October 2006.).
−▪−
The third phase
(which is underway) is the
establishment of the school – it
includes the realisation of steps
adopted by The Working Group:
obtaining all of the formal
approvals (from: City of Vukovar,
Vukovarsko-Srijemska County and
Ministry of Education); securing all
of the needed preconditions
(premises, finances); further work
on making the Vukovar community
aware of the need for such a school;
formal establishment of The New
School.
−▪−
The fourth phase
is the beginning of the work of the
school. |

Beside that, The New School
is also named as an
example, the way to help
both majority and minority
develop their identity and
really interact in an
intercultural environment,
as opposed to just living
one besides other, in
National Plan of Activities
for Rights and Interests of
the Children from 2006 to
