In cooperation with the Jewish municipality in Osijek, we have commemorated the Jewish Culture Month by organizing the workshop “Graphite against hate speech”.
The workshop was implemented on September 26th, and it included the students from Ruđer Bošković school and Vukovar Gymnasium. In addition, the event was attended by the two Polish students, Alicja Guzowske i Maja Błachnio, and their teachers. The students were invited to Osijek by the Jewish Municipality, to present their movie “The road to Shoa”. The movie resonated with the students from Croatia, and they had a lot of questions regarding it.
The students got together in Osijek and though of two slogans “Be a mate, stop the hate” and “Širi pozitivu, zaboravi negative (Eng. Spread positivity, forget negativity)”. Those messages have been transformed into graphite’s through students’ art skills and are being displayed at the schools.
The project UNITED is implemented by the Nansen Dialogue Centre (Croatia) in partnership with the Technical school and Natural Sciences School Ruđer Bošković Osijek (Croatia), Glocal Factory (Italy), IIS “Ferraris Fermi” (Italy), Center of Jewish Cultural Heritage Synagogue Maribor (Slovenia) and WCIES (Poland) and is funded by the European Union through the CERV program.
